On the web
European Court of Auditors
In its report on the implementation of the EU budget in 2008, the European Court of Auditors (ECA) has for the first time issued an unqualified (i.e. 'clean') opinion on the reliability of the Union's accounts. The ECA website provides the full text of the report, together with various summaries, press releases and a FAQ.

CRIS
The European Parliament has set up Special Committee on the Financial, Economic and Social Crisis (CRIS). On 10 November, it held a public hearing on 'The Financial Crisis: Causes, Consequences and Challenges.

Training
The Association is not currently running any public training courses. We are, however, still able to offer in-house training, so if you and your colleagues would benefit from finding out about the EU, how it works and the documents it produces, please get in touch to discuss your requirements.
AskEric
Our AskEric enquiry service, exclusive to EIA Members, can confidentially answer all manner of questions.

Visit the website to logon and send your AskEric question.

This week, Eric was asked to help track down two obscure documents from 1992: CC/92/23 (rev 1) final and CC/92/24 (rev 1) Final, produced by the Advisory Committee on the Opening up of Public Procurement and the Advisory Committee on Public Procurement.

Given the age of the documents, it is doubtful they are available on the web (a Google search seemed to confirm as much). So, having found that both committees report to the Commission's Internal Market DG, Eric provided a contact within the relevant unit of the DG and suggested asking for copies.
