Embarrassed by EU information? Not sure where to find that EU document mentioned in the news? We've all been there, but now our AskEric enquiry service, exclusive to EIA Members, can save your blushes by confidentially answering all manner of questions, from EU basics, through 'where can I find it' queries, to the ins and outs of databases. We're here to help, so AskEric - and say goodbye to EU information embarrassment! Visit the website to logon and send your AskEric question. Here's a topical question: Now that we’ve got new MEPs, when can we expect them to start work? AskEric says: The MEPs elected in the recent elections don’t take their seats until the first meeting of the new Parliament on 14 July. Until then, the MEPs serving in the 2004-2009 Parliament officially continue in office (though some at least have already stepped down - most noticeably Glenys Kinnock, who is now the UK’s Europe Minister!). There are more details on the website of the EP Office in London - including the fact that 52 of 72 UK MEPs were re-elected, so your new MEP is one of relatively small group of new faces heading for Strasbourg (and Brussels). |
