EU Databases

The majority of our Members are librarians or information officers. Many spend all or most of their working lives providing information about the EU and its documentation. Some deal with EU enquiries only occasionally.

For most of us, our main source of official EU information is Europa, the Union's main website. One of the busiest sites in the world, Europa highlights one of the main problems facing providers and users of EU information: the sheer volume of information. There is a plethora of materials - legislation, policy documents, newsletters, press releases, annual reports, court cases, statistics, maps, invitations to tender …

Although there is a wealth of material available, it is not always obvious which source is most appropriate or how information can be found. We aim to provide some guidance, so here are a few starting points for finding specific documents or types of information.

Legislation
1 - Finding and tracking proposed legislation using EUR-Lex, PreLex, OEIL
2 - using EUR-Lex to find legislation adopted at EU level
3 - using EUR-Lex and N-Lex to find legislation adopted at national level
4 - A guide to Tenders Electronic Daily
