The Commission is to use a series of measures to reduce the pay gap between men and women over the next five years, including raising awareness among employers, encouraging initiatives to promote gender equality, and supporting the development of tools to measure the gender pay gap. The Commission will also look at a number of other options, including strengthening sanctions, providing pay transparency, and regularly reporting on the pay gap. A Eurobarometer Special Survey on 'Gender equality in the EU' shows significant support for tackling the pay gap.
